Some Memories Never Fade

Mummy behind the lens!

Nine months ago I became a mum to Evie who is modelled in a few of the babies photographs. Whilst I was pregnant I took photographs at a wedding, it was a very long day but still enjoyable. Then the camera was put away for the winter so I could put my feet up.

It took me a few days after Evie was born in January last year to remember to get my camera out, the sleep deprivation is a killer but now it's very rarely away.

I love taking pictures of my little girl, quality photographs we can keep forever.

When it came to thinking about going back to work to pay the bills, it was not a thought I relished.

What I really wanted was to spend every day with Evie and watch her grow. This however was not an option. Then a thought hit me, if I go back to work and then I have to look after Evie how was I ever going to fit in what I love the most, taking photographs

Having met lots of new mums and talked to them about photography and taking pictures of their own children it's only ignited my passion even more to kick start the business again and give people the opportunity to have quality photographs taken of their children and weddings.

I'm now back at my day job 3 days a week, but I'm still managing a photoshoot a week sometimes two or three.

I decided that I wasn't going to let time beat me and that I would be able to fit it all in.
Evie has been with me for most of the photoshoots so far, she is not yet a very good assistant but I have hope she will be, she has even taken part in a few of them. If not she's had some pictures done while we are waiting for people to arrive.

I do worry that she will be bored of the camera soon but she's starting to recognise it and smiles when it's pointed in her general direction! It's the getting her to sit still that's the problem.

I know it takes an hour or two of my day and time I could be spending with Evie. But then I think about why I'm doing it. I'm doing it to give her a better life, I'm doing it because it makes me happy and is something that defines me and I enjoy doing.
I'm also doing it to help others have to keep photographs of their babies and special days that they can keep forever and look back on years to come and relive moments that might not be automatically remembered. It might mean I can drop some more hours at work and spend more time with my little girl.
And maybe just maybe, it will show Evie as she grows up that you can follow your dreams and passions even if you think it's beyond you.

My website slogan is true....
